Kids Project For Community That Loves Gardening
We ran across this absolutely intriguing craft project for the kids at your community to grow their own grass!  What’s best is that it just requires each child to bring in an old CD case, which are usually laying around in many homes these days.  Just add soil and seeds to the CD case and watch the grass grow!  You might want to experiment with the process beforehand to get any kinks out, such as how to water, and how much to water.  But it should be a pretty easy way to get the kids from the apartment community involved.

Kind, Random Acts in 2014
I received a letter in the mail a few weeks ago. This was a letter from my friend Kristin Oxford announcing her participation with Team in Training for the Leukemia society. Her note mentioned the natural details of the race and the meaning behind her participation. But here is what caught my attention. Her team went one step further this year. Yes, they will send you an email and text thanking you for your donation. Here's what they are also doing: for every donation that Kristin receives, she will perform a Random Act of Kindness on behalf of the donor. She may perform a selfless act for an animal or an unsuspecting person and she expects nothing in return. These RAOK will be properly documented and will be Posted on Facebook with the donor being tagged. How fun is this! I find this to be such a...

Snowflake Creations – A Great Winter Activity
Creating paper snowflakes is a fun activity for just about anyone, and is great for kids as it is almost impossible to go wrong. Cut a few places here, a few places there, and suddenly you have a unique snowflake. It is a great activity to keep the kids occupied during a big holiday party or as a stand-alone activity for kids after school. The basics of creating paper snowflakes is pretty easy, simply folding the paper several times, cutting notches around the edges, and then unfolding the paper. But you can also find all sorts of fun templates for snowflakes online! Here are a few examples we liked! A very cool 3D paper snowflake An entire collection of Starwars snowflake templates Assorted...

Giving the Gift of Resident Engagement
The holidays are here, and it’s time to enjoy the season and spend some time engaging with your residents. This time of year is perfect for planning a festive party or offering a little token of your appreciation to your residents. Despite the sound of it, you don’t have to spend a lot to help your community celebrate the holidays – a small investment can go a long way with these fun holiday ideas! Cookie Exchange. Invite your residents to make sweet treats to share with one another. Consider providing bags or cookie tins so that each participant can take a few of their neighbors’ treats home to enjoy during the holidays. Craft Night. Provide a ‘how-to’ event for creating festive holiday decor like wreaths or making handmade gifts like Cookies in a Jar. It’s not necessary...

Holiday Food Drive and Raffle
My community is currently hosting a food drive for our local food bank. The leasing office did a little research to see which organizations were in need of donations for the holidays. It was easy to get the information for our local food bank and setup minor details such as picking up the food barrel & arranging for a pick-up at the end of the drive. We made flyers to pass out to each home and post throughout the community. The food bank also had tools online such as what items they needed and posters we could print out for free. To 'up the ante' a bit we also organized a raffle to go with it. For each item that is brought into the office the resident's name will go into the raffle one time. Winners will be chosen at random and...
