How Does It Work?

If you have already read the "About Us" page, you know the general concept of Resident Events is to share apartment party ideas with other apartment communities throughout the country!  But let us clear up some of the confusion regarding the concept:

1) Why should I share my event ideas? Communities like Resident Events only work if everybody participates and shares a little something.  If people only come to view the event ideas and never share, then we won't have any new events!  Besides, 99.99% of people looking at your event will not be your direct comps, so if you are in Wisconsin, there is no fear about helping out someone in Georgia!

2) Is my event listing meant to increase attendance? No, not really.  The "audience" for Resident Events is really your fellow apartment professionals throughout the country.  It would be a huge coincidence if your residents actually saw it!

3) What types of events are there? We have two main types of events:  1) A full event listing that shares everything about that resident event, and 2) A simple activity or game for residents (examples).  For example, a full event could be a holiday or Christmas party with details about decorating, food preparation, prizes, and other information, while an activity could be a simple game, such as a paper airplane making contest.

4) What should I include in my full event listing? Great question!  Just saying, "We are having a coffee meet-up" will not add much value...  So there are multiple elements that make a party really unique!

a) Theme - This is what most people share, and we hope to get some really interesting themes beyond the traditional "luau"!

b) Attendance - What are you doing to drive attendance and promote your apartment party?  Getting the word out can be a challenge, so we want to hear how you are doing it!

c) Goal Setting - Tell us what you are trying to accomplish with your event.  Don't have a party just to have a party, set some goals and tell us about them!

d) Activities - Let's say you have a kid's event.  Well, you aren't just going to stuff them all in a room, throw in some cookies, and hope for the best!  Instead, you are going to set up coloring contests, paper airplane making programs, and other kid-friendly things.  So what are you doing at your event to spice things up?

e) Decorating - Share pictures of how you decorated to give others ideas!

f) Sharing After The Event - Let's face it, for most communities, once an event is over, it just disappears.  But considering you spent a lot of time and money preparing it, shouldn't you get more value from it?  So how are you sharing event pictures and videos to show non-attendees what they missed out on?

g) More! Anything else unique that you did!

If you want more information about planning an event, we have created a companion blog at ApartmentParty.Net.  Enjoy!
