Murder Mystery
You know how you have all of these resident socials and hardly anyone shows up and when they do, no one talks to one another? We recently had a resident event that guranteed that the residents interacted with each other, with us and it drew a crowd. We hosted Legacy at Friendly Manor's 1st annual Murder Mystery. All in attendance was assigned roles, dressed in character, given questions and scripts. Then everyone was required to mingle and ask certian questions and then offer certain information. The mystery we held was about an awards show - like the Academy Awards - and one of the rising stars was murdered. Then after the "murder", we then had to mingle and question people again. It was so much fun that by the end of it we had run over our expected end time, and residents were asking when we were going to do...

Ice Cream On Wheels
We dressed up our GEM car that is used for tours as an ice cream truck. We had colorful pictures of different types of ice cream and flavors taped to our GEM Car. We made a large ice cream cone with one large scoop of strawberry ice cream and that was on the front of the GEM car. We had nursery ryhmes playing as we drove through our community and invited children and residents to come and enjoy some ice cream. Using the GEM car which is battery operated also saved on the environment and our residents did not have to smell the gas fumes of an old ice cream truck.

July Resident Mixer at The Falls @ 109
This month we had the opportunity to celebrate our leasing and event coordinator, Kelly Crabtree's, wedding celebration and combined it with our monthly mixer at our beautiful clubhouse here at The Falls @ 109. We had an Old Fashioned Candy Buffet, Baked Potato Bar, Cupcakes, and a DJ for some dancing! To top it off.. Maggie Moos's Ice Cream Truck, sponsored by AT&T, came and set up outside our clubhouse to hand out ice cream to residents! It was AWESOME! The theme for the event was an Old Fashioned,Country/Mason Jar atmosphere which was very charming and inviting. WE LOVE OUR RESIDENTS!

Space and aliens would be the theme of the party. Residents would come dressed up as a planet, an alien or their favorite space themed Sci-Fiction character. All the food, and decoration would have alien and planetary theme, including alien beef jerky from the Alien Fresh Jerky store in Baker, CA.

's Most Wanted Apartment
We like to have "Cedar Pointe's Most Wanted Apartment" contest on Facebook every year or so. We ask that residents who think they've got the best looking home take photos of their apartment and post on our facebook. The resident with the most "likes" wins! Benefits of Most Wanted Apartment Contest: *Keeps users engaged on your facebook page *Gives contestants and voters a deeper sense of community *Gives other residents and prospects decorating and furniture placement ideas *Provides the property with several different photos to be used in marketing *Increases the number of "likes" on the property's facebook page ***The photos below are actual photos submitted by our residents.

Community Blood Drive
Twice a year we host a blood drive through the American Red Cross in our clubhouse. The Red Cross provides flyers for the event, as well as sending many press releases. We invite all our residents and the rest of the community via Facebook, E-Mail, Craig's List, Eventful.com, etc. On the day of the event, only one volunteer is needed to register the donors as they come in. The Red Cross team handles everything else including clean up. Hosting a Community Blood Drive requires little effort, but the reward in unbeatable!

A Night Among The Stars - Oscar Party
We delivered voting ballots for the Oscars & decorated the office with a red carpet, balloons, oscar statues and lots of stars. We showed the Oscars in our movie theater and had a menu that was named after the stars - Rodeo Drive Roll-Ups, Rising Star Cookies, Walk of Fame Punch & Chocolatey Hollywood Fountain, etc. We had the "paparazzi" there to take photos of the residents on the red carpet as they came in for the Oscar Party. The resident that choose the most correct winners won a pizza/movie party in our movie theater.

The Lemonade Project
Family friendly properties could truly benefit from adopting a practice of hosting what I like to call “Parties with Purpose” especially when it comes to hosting events for children. One of my all time fave summer events is one I like to call The Annual Lemonade Project. This event can take up to about a three to six week commitment but believe it or not it takes very little effort to pull off and gives your residents something special to look forward to year after year. With careful planning, delegation and creativity this will raise the morale within your property for a long time coming. The Lemonade Project is a fun and exciting lesson in entrepreneurship for the children on your property. It is designed to not only get them involved with their neighbors but to teach them lessons about teamwork, creativity, service and more. The objective...

Old School Arcade Trip
A while back we talked about publishing high scores for popular games in your game station in your clubhouse, but we realized that there was another event idea in there. Why not do an old-school arcade trip? Arcades are a dying breed, and even for areas that still have one, the average person probably hasn’t been to one in ages. But as a unique community trip, this is a great opportunity to go old school! Add in some trivia about early arcade games and you have a great night of fun! A fun side activity would be a contest for 4 or 5 selected games to see who can get the highest score during the evening. You might need a "judge" at each game to record the scores, and each person has one opportunity per game.
