Water Blob Party
As a kid, there was nothing better than playing on a water bed. Of course, we were always one jump away from flooding the room, but it was always a blast. Well, now we have found a party idea that taps into our love of water beds - it is a Water Blob party for kids! It is essentially a homemade water bed that kids can jump around on and play like crazy. The original idea apparently came from here, but we think these alternate instructions might work out much better. Those all deal with small groups of kids, and as we know, apartment community parties can get quite large! So here are some things to consider if you want to make some water blobs at the community: ...

Book Buddies
We aren’t sure how this program could be scaled for multifamily, but we just loved the idea so much that we had to share! The “Book Buddies” program was created by the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, Pennsylvania, to bring together shelter cats wanting companionship and school-age children wanting to improve their reading skills. Children in grades 1-8 who are able to read at any level may come into the shelter to read to the cats in our adoption room. Similar programs at other shelters across the country have seen the benefits the program has to offer. The program will help children improve their reading skills while also helping the shelter animals. Cats find the rhythmic sound of a voice very comforting and soothing. We think that is a brilliant way to work with the outside community in a way that...

Build a Community Igloo!
With bitter temperatures sweeping the country, many may not be thinking of doing an outdoor event at their community, until they see this very cool project that anyone can do! This community project builds an actual igloo on your property, with beautiful colored ice bricks to liven up the dreary winter. The Trokhan family created this particular igloo, buy buying 210 tins to create the ice blocks, using normal food coloring to create a colorful candy-like appearance. Once they were frozen, they laid two blocks together and used snow as mortar between the cracks. After each two-block groups, they would pour water over it and let it freeze together, which took between 30 and 60 seconds to become solid enough to be stable. They said the top of the igloo took a little longer to freeze in place enough to be...

Kids Project For Community That Loves Gardening
We ran across this absolutely intriguing craft project for the kids at your community to grow their own grass!  What’s best is that it just requires each child to bring in an old CD case, which are usually laying around in many homes these days.  Just add soil and seeds to the CD case and watch the grass grow!  You might want to experiment with the process beforehand to get any kinks out, such as how to water, and how much to water.  But it should be a pretty easy way to get the kids from the apartment community involved.

Super Mario Themed Apartment Party!
We found this event, which was actually a 5 year old birthday party, and fortunately, they allowed us to share it here on Resident Events! We wish we had more details on the construction of the party pieces, but hopefully you can figure out how to create them on your own. Some of these ideas are incredibly creative, such as the Goomba stomp, ? Boxes, and Yoshi eggs! Edit: Looking back at this event, one of the things we love most is the immersion into the idea. For example, you could get a superhero-themed bounce house and call it a "superhero party", but does that really excite people? Events like this, that take an idea to the next level, are really want create memorable moments. The kids who attend this party will remember this for a long, long time, which...
