Cookie Monster Day
This week’s Resident Event idea is geared more for your little residents. Did you know that November 2nd is Cookie Monster Day? That is because Cookie Monster’s birthday is November 2nd! You can turn this fun little “holiday” into a great Resident Event by hosting a Cookie Monster-themed event! You don’t have to go too crazy with this one for the little ones to have a blast! This year November 2nd falls on a Monday so you could just open your clubhouse for an hour to an hour and a half after your office closes and invite the kids and their parents to a cookie party! Set out a big table with a tablecloth (preferably blue like Cookie Monster himself) and lay out trays of all different kinds of cookies! Make sure you have cold milk nearby to go with...

Cardboard Fortress For Your Community's Princes and Princesses
One of the most popular event on ResidentEvents.com is our Cardboard Drive in Movie for kids. Kids, just like cats, just seem to love to get into boxes, which is why whenever an appliance is ever purchased, the kids get a brand new "present" in the form of giant box they can play in. So it's time to take that idea and expand it to a community-wide fort building event! Start planning today and save all the big boxes that come to the community when you order new appliances, and when residents move in, tell them that if they have any large boxes after the move, they can donate them to the future community fort. After that, all you have to do is let your creativity run wild - enlist the residents in the build job and create mazes, secret...

Children's Drawing Contest With Birthday Twist
One of the event ideas we love most around here was the Children's Drawing Contest with a Very Unique Prize, and today, we have found a great concept that is similar, but probably a lot easier to pull off! The basic premise of the original idea (although I still recommend checking it out for the GREAT examples we found), was that community would have a children's drawing contest, where the children at the community would make a drawing and winners would get their drawings made into stuffed animals! The value in the event was less in the event itself, but rather the creative aspect of the prize. It would be something unbelievable unique in their world, and would create a ton of good will with the parents. The challenge, of course, was that it was somewhat expensive to make the stuffed animals, and it...

March READING Madness!
Think about helping your community encourage children to read by setting up a cute March Reading Madness Contest! Create a Bulletin Board with a Goal theme like a March Madness 'Book Bracket' board, showing the competing contenders as books in a certain age range. Color print outs of the book covers will help the competitors recognize their choices and make the board POP. Although this is a "March Madness" themed event, logistically it probably works better as a year-long event, with a "Book of the Month" each month. The first two months will feature the first two books that square off in your March Reading Madness bracket! So after two months, those who have read the books can submit their votes for their favorite of the two, and you can announce the winner of the first round for that contest. ...

Cardboard Drive In Movie
Ah, the joy of a cardboard box when you are 5. Something so simple can turn into something magical when you have the imagination of a child! This idea is to make a simple drive in movie experience, even though it is doubtful any kids in your community have actually experienced the real thing. They get to decorate their cars with wheels, brake lights, racing stripes, and anything else they can think of. Then let them watch an outdoor movie in their new rides! Maybe my own imagination is getting away with me, but I think it would be a blast to arrange the cars like they were racing and do quasi action shots with the kids looking like they are in a bitter race for first. Could probably get some great pictures of the event this way! ...
