Don't “Dessert” Us Renewal Party Hot
Keep your residents active and engaged with a Don’t “Dessert” Us renewal party!
Community events are a great way to show residents you appreciate them. They’re also a good time to encourage residents to resign their leases as well!
With this event, get residents to resign for an additional year by giving them a fun reason to get together over the holiday season.
There are a few different activities you can organize to make this event a ginger snapping success!

Put together all the favorites; cakes, cookies, holiday-themed candies, cupcakes, or even ice cream with toppings and sprinkles!
Make your own sundae bar
Speaking of ice cream, an ice cream social is another fun and tasty event sure to draw a crowd.
As we’ve mentioned before here on Resident Events, any event with food, and especially sweets, is always a busy event. Consider including ice cream as part of your renewal party!

Cookie challenge (tasting competition)
Do your resident’s think they have what it takes to win the gold! Hold a bake-off cookie competition with resident managers as the judges!
Sweets swap
While residents are competing to take home the win for best desserts, make sure they also bring at least two dozen homemade cookies for a resident cookie swap!

Have them exchange chocolate chip, gingerbread, macaroons, fudge, and any other kind of baked sweets with each other in equal parts. This way they can complete their plates and take home a variety of seasonal sweets back home to share with their families!
***TIP*** Keep paper plates and plastic wrap on hand for wrapping up resident goodies.
Also...remember to ask for those renewals!
Of course, the highlight of the event will be your lease renewal table with special offers and discounts if residents renew their lease for another year.
For decorating ideas, check out this post of signage ideas and more!
Remind residents of the benefits of being part of your community. Set up photos from past events. Share activities you have planned in the year ahead so they get excited to stick around!
Have one employee dedicated to watching the renewal table and also working the room with a clipboard to talk to residents. Also, if you do find that residents are reluctant to renew their intention to stay in the community, ask why!
Have lots of comment cards and feedback forms (with anonymous collection boxes) available so you can learn more your resident’s concerns. Use this resident feedback to improve your services and facilities to make your community an even better place to live next year!
