Lost for what to do to celebrate the most wonderful time of year? We all want to make sure our residents are in the best holiday spirits, because when your residents are happy, your property is happy! There’s only so much you can do with COVID looming over you, but here are some options to make it a little easier for you.

Make Your Own Ornaments: Most people love to showcase their creative side, and what better way to do that than a customized ornament? You provide the supplies, they provide their imagination! This can be a drive by event, and residents can submit pictures of their finished ornaments for a contest chosen by their fellow residents or your Facebook followers. The prize doesn’t have to be big. Most residents would be happy with a $25 coupon off rent, or a gift card to their favorite lunch spot! 

Holiday Toy Drive: There’s never a shortage of holiday charity that can be done, especially when it comes to toy drives! Most cities have several options to donate toys. Law enforcement has ‘Blue Santa’, which goes to families they have come across that are less fortunate or aren’t able to provide Christmas for their families. Angel Tree is a program for families to sign up for if they aren’t able to buy presents, or otherwise wouldn’t have Christmas. You can even donate to your local Child Protective Services or CASA office to help foster children have Christmas despite not being with family.  

Gift Wrapping Station: Take the stress out of gift wrapping and provide a gift wrapping station! This would be a super inexpensive way to reach out to your residents and let them know you care. Provide all the fixings: gorgeous wrapping paper, ribbon, bows, tape and even a staff member to assist with wrapping. You could even provide hot cocoa to go for an extra special treat when they finish wrapping their gifts!
