Sip and Shop

As we approach December 1st, the holidays are officially in full swing so it’s time to start planning some events which not only get your residents in the spirit of the season, but perhaps should also be seen as helpful during the hustle and bustle of the season.

This week’s Resident Event is called a “Sip & Shop”.  These days, it seems like almost everyone is an independent salesperson for a company whether it is cosmetics, candles, jewelry, kitchen gadgets, or the like.  Why not create an event for your residents which will bring all of those sales people to your clubhouse for one night and let your residents enjoy an evening out of the house while sipping on some wine and doing some holiday shopping?  It shouldn’t be hard to find seven or eight (more or less depending on the size of your clubhouse and property) vendors to come set up their displays to allow your residents to do some shopping!  You and your team could utilize your social media accounts and your property’s social media pages to recruit some sales people- one of your very own residents might sell something!  Make sure you get logos of the companies who will be displaying their products to include on your flyers.  When in doubt, almost every company’s website has a feature where you can look up a local vendor.  All you need to do is open up the clubhouse one evening for two to three hours at most, set up some tables or allow the vendors to bring their own, and provide some wine for sipping.  If your local laws and/or company policies do not allow alcohol at resident events, simply host a “Snack & Shop” and provide light refreshments.  The vendors will appreciate the opportunity to gain some new customers and they also are used to having to pay for a booth or table to showcase their products so the fact that you aren’t charging them should be a plus!  Your residents will enjoy the ability to let the vendors come to them!  Try to make sure you have a wide range of items to shop from since not everyone will be interested in candles or kitchen gadgets or maybe they already have a preferred vendor to buy those things from.  Since most of these companies are on a catalog system, make sure you plan this event early enough in the month so that there is plenty of time for your residents to place an order and wait for it to be shipped and/or delivered before the holiday.  If you have enough room, open up the event for your residents to bring guests, too, so that will mean more sales for your vendors and you never know when that guest might turn into your newest resident!

Below is a list of ideas of vendors to invite to your Sip & Shop:

• Scentsy - wax and warmers/fragrance:

• Mary Kay- cosmetics:

• Pampered Chef- kitchen gadgets/cooking essentials:

• Younique- cosmetics and skincare:

• Origami Owl- jewelry/personalized lockets:

• Jamberry- nail decals:

• Pink Zebra- home fragrance:
