Community Socials
Coordinate a salsa instructor to teach basics of salsa dancing. Have salsa music playing throughout the event to set the mood and facilitate the salsa dancing class.
Salsa Tasting
Line up Salsa dips of varying intensity (very mild to super hot) and different regions (native Texan salsas to those from other parts of the world). Learn about the Scoville Scale of Hotness and the hottest chiles in the world!
Salsa Eating Contest
Have a contest for salsa eating... either who can eat the most salsa in the shortest amount of time, or who can handle the hottest salsa. The winner could get a subscription to Chile Pepper magazine.

Hot & Spicy!!
I love this idea because it's affordable (you could get a dance instructor to volunteer their services in exchange for promoting his/her dance studio), it allows residents to become engaged (you can ask residents to bring their own salsas as a cook-off idea) and can be done any time of year. We'll be promoting this idea over at creatingHOME, love this! Thanks so much for sharing.
I love this idea! Talk with your local Arthur Murray studio (or any social dance studio) to find instructors. I worked for them while in college and did this sort of thing all the time. Tons of fun for all ages!
Great Idea!
