Flyers were passed out around the community a month in advance, included in mailings and redistributed the week of the event. The flyer said we were “Rolling Out the Red Carpet for OUR Stars at ABC Apartments”. Residents walked the "Red Carpet" in to our annual pool party and were greeted by a huge inflatable Oscar on each side of the door way. The music was very dramatic and classical for the beginning of the party. Once inside the residents were met by the paparazzi, who took their photo in front of the "Hollywood" sign. Then they were directed to huge picture where they were asked to identify as many of the actors as possible. We later awarded a prize to the resident who was able to write down the most names. The residents loved this! Many stood there exchanging ideas and reminiscing about the movies and what they were doing when that movie or actor was popular. The tables around the pool had movie real centerpieces with red, yellow, black and gold balloons hovering over head. The food was served with matching tableware to carry the theme and drinks were served in plastic flute glasses. Later on we played another game with the DJ. He played different movie themes, from all generations, and we awarded a blockbuster gift card to the top 3 winners who were able to name all the actors.
