Materials Needed: Indoor room, like a Clubhouse Murder Mystery script or plan (can be bought online for about $25) Invitations (electronic or paper) Halloween decorations - it is fun to be extra creative and get your maintenance staff involved! Lots of food (see menus below) 4 or more servers/runners 3 ovens (or more, if possible) Plates & Forks, Knives, Spoons - We used paper the first year and wanted to "class it up" to we went to Goodwill and St. Vincent de Paul and bought nice ceramic plates and metal silverware for cheap. We keep these items in our clubhouse year-round. Event: For the last three years we have hosted a Murder Mystery Dinner for our residents. We put invitations by everyone's door or send out e-invites about 3-4 weeks prior to the event, and we usually get about 60 (!) residents who attend. We ask for volunteers...

We are currently in the works on a cruise with Riverside Travels for our residents. We thought this would be a great way for us to bond as a community and for those who normally are not able to go on a cruise. This will be a cruise that the residents will have to pay for but it will be at a discounted rate and we can make payments plans. Our Goal Date of the cruise is going to be August 2011. We are really excitted and so are the residents. If this is a sucess we will make this an annual event. We are even planning on getting Tshirts that Say The Meeting House at Collins Cove Senior Cruise 2011. We are also thinking of looking into some fundraising events to help the residents with the cost. Which the cruise itself is like $344 we just want to...

We partnered with our local cable company for this event. They brought the 5'x5' inflatable screen, the movie (we requested Finding Nemo) and even snacks and drinks. They set it up at the end of the pool so people in and out of the pool could see it. All we had to do was advertise the event as being sponsored by them and be there to help co-host it. Our cable rep was there to answer any questions and give out their flyers if asked but they did not use it as a time to try to sell more cable - just a "we appreciate you" event. :) The residents loved it and so did we because the only cost to us was to print out flyers and tossed in a few of the $1 inflatable toys from Dollar Tree. SUPER easy and fun! P.S. - It will need...

We hold a bi-annual Community Yard Sale. We put an advertisement in the local paper, post signs, and rent tables. We simply ask our residents to RSVP so we know how many tables to rent. The day of the sale, they come out, sell their items and keep the money they earn. We have done 3 now, and attendance by residents and others has increased each time. This is also a great way to introduce the property to prospects, who see the property, and see one of our many Resident Events!

Every year Miami Township had a city wide event called National Night Out, which our community takes part in. This past year we had a Luau Pool party. We provided drinks, baked potato bar and a grill outside for residents to grill their own entree. We had the pool filled with beach balls; there were hula hoops and Frisbees everywhere. The Luau brought endless entertainment with all of the Miami Township emergency response teams and local venders that visited the community. Residents were out on the grounds playing with Frisbees, hula hoops, and having sack races. The Hunters Chase team and the residents all ended up in the pool having a beach ball fight by the end of the night. We can not wait for next years National Night Out.

Sharing an idea I received in a class we are about to launch at our community.
Hand out photo albums to your residents who wish to participate. Of course offer an incentive for a WINNER!
Have them take photos of their interior decorating skills in their apartment homes.
Select a winner, BUT KEEP THE ALBUMS.
Use these for SALES TOOLS in your mini-models or to show furniture placement ideas, features your permanent model doesn't have (hard wood floors, jet tub, trey ceiling etc....)

This is a fun idea for the month of December. Take 2 weeks or so out of the month and do RAW - Resident Appreciation Week. But with a fun Holiday Twist! It is written in which the CARES Teams carry it out but switch up the wording and have fun! The events will be held at the entrance gates, in the Leasing Office and club house.

If your property doesn't have a community center or clubhouse and you still want to have a great event, here's a summer party we can all enjoy. If you have a pool, have this in your community. If not, find one that will let you use it late! Have someone cater with finger foods (or have your residents bring their own) and have a great time out by the pool after the sun goes down!! This is great for people like me who "fear" sunburn!
Don't forget to bring along some beach balls, have some great summer music, and bring your smiling faces!
The inspiration for this event came from Mindy Sharp, of Freestone Management Services, LLC.
