I have been working in multi-family housing for many years. My latest experience was a monthly poetry and play reading group. The members chose the plays(usually one acts) and poems they wanted to share with the group. It is a good way to get to know the residents better and to have a creative gathering. Food was brought by the participants. It was on going for ten years until the building was sold.

In the past, one of our Communities hosted a Bake Sale where each person prepared their favorite dessert and brought it to the scheduled Bake Sale. Each dessert, regardless of size and amount, was priced at $5.00. All proceeds were donated to a current company-wide fundraiser. An idea is to have the children (with the assistance of adults) help run the Cashier Station as well as purchase their favorite baked good. A Holiday Bake Sale can be held at any time of year, but with Valentine's Day right around the corner, this is a great event to start planning for! Also, you can encourage your residents to draw/color a picture with what they "LOVE" about living at your Community; if they bring it to the Bake Sale, they will get...

And what’s best is that it is a recurring event that needs very little upkeep! First, get the ball rolling by setting up a tournament for whatever type of card game you are setting up. This can be done a few different times for different games, and will likely draw in different demographics depending on the game. For the initial tournament, set up prizes and publicize the tournament heavily. Encourage residents to bring outside guests in order to improve marketing efforts, as well! We can probably do a whole discussion on how to run a card tournament, so for now, I’ll limit the details on that front. But suffice it to...

Starbuck's Starters Budget Range: Low

CARES Teams stand at main gate, passing out free Starbucks to residents on their way out in the morning. Starbucks has caraffes they sell and supply all the cups, sugars, half and half, stirrers, lids with them. This is a resident favorite here allowing us to interact with an average of 100 people for about $50!

We have a sign that says "FREE STARBUCKS COFFEE," because some people try to pay us! Set up on a pool area table and as they pass by, they tell us what they'd like in their coffee. We make it up for them in seconds and off they go! They love it!
