This is categorized as a "kids event", but really it should be "kids and dads"! I don't care how old I get, tell me to make paper airplanes and I am happy as a clam. There are a lot of different things you can do with your paper airplane design contest, and here are just a few: Buy some airplane design books for kids to copy or draw inspiration from. If you want to ad some whimsy to a traditional event, you should try Over the Rainbow Pancake Breakfast. This event would tie in very nicely with St. Patrick's Day as residents eat their way through a rainbow of pancakes.

Host a movie night at the pool. Provide inexpensive floats. You can purchase or rent an inflatable movie screen and show a movie while residents relax and float in the pool. We served rootbeer floats, icecream, chips, popcorn, movie candy, and punch.
You could also have a raffle for a Movie themed basket. Offer movie tickets, popcorn, theater candy, etc.

Participate in your local Relay for Life Event. This event sponsors the American Cancer Society. Create a team and reach out to your residents for support. Have colorful T-shirts made with your logo, and wear them during the event. After a few laps, everyone will remember your community name. You are typically also provided a table to give out info and sell items to raise funds for the charity.
Our local carpet cleaning company sponsored us by paying for the t-shirts and in return we added their logo to the shirts below our community name.
