What are some of the things you miss about being a kid? Me, well I miss watching movies with friends at my house, riding bikes through the neighborhood, roller skating, eating extremely unhealthy food just because it tasted good, talking on the phone for hours, and playing with dolls. Yes, I miss playing with dolls. So throw me a party! A "Be a Kid Again Party"... get all all the old toys, put some cartoons on the big screen, and serve up some candy, popcorn, pigs in a blanket and just let your residents enjoy being a kid again--without kids around. :D You may be surprised at how many residents will make friends with each other when they discover that they share a love for the same nostalgic toys! Hot Wheels, Barbies, Big Wheels, Legos, Connect Four, FUN FUN FUN!... They'll talk about how...

Every child needs the opportunity to engage their inner artist – or just make a colossal mess – and cake decorating can give them the perfect opportunity to experiment with colors, textures, and new tools to design a prized creation. Come prepared with plain cupcakes and equip your guests with decorating tools, icings, sprinkles, chocolate chips, marshmallows, and anything else that would provide a unique color or texture to add to the fun.

Our Thanksgiving was held one week before Thanksgiving. I arranged for an area restaurant to caterer. We set up our community room as a restaurant with linen table cloths, napkins, nice dishes and glassware. The tables had beautiful lighted laterns with grens and log pieces tha the tenants made. For a surprise we had a harp player play during our meal. Also during coffee and pie. We even sang grace. It was a great evening with friends.

People can’t avoid interactive silliness, which is why you will see all sorts of people acting like complete weirdo’s in front of a curved mirror at a carnival to make themselves short and fat, tall and skinny, or some other bizarre look. But now you don’t need a giant curved mirror to create your own fun house! Just hook up a webcam, iPad, or some other device that has the ability to manipulate images to a large screen TV for loads of wacky fun at your apartment party. As a side note, if you think these images are completely dumb, remember to see things from the eyes of the person playing with it! When I showed the images to my wife, she just rolled her eyes and thought I was an idiot, but for me, it was absolutely a blast! So even if...

As www.pinterest.com continues to explode in popularity, provide an opportunity for your residents to exchange new recipes and learn to make something crafty for their front door. Guests are encouraged to try a new recipe and bring a copy for their fellow guests. Event organizers can take the completed recipe cards and photocopy them so that every resident leaves with a new collection of recipes, and you can make color print-outs of blank cards so that residents can have the opportunity to copy down recipes onto custom cards once they return home. Set up a wreath-making station and walk guests through the steps to make their own wreath. If you’re crafty, provide more than one option and let them add their own unique flair to the design. Encourage guests to decorate their front doors with the wreaths during the month of December. All supplies...

This is a great game for kids or gown ups (get out your video recording devices because this is going to be funny!) Here's what you need:2 Oranges and a Pair of Pantyhose for each racer. Here's how to play:Place one orange into the leg of the pantyhose and then tie the pantyhose around the waist of the racer. The orange leg should hang down towards the ground and swing between their legs. Using the "third leg" players tap the second orange on the floor in front of them and race to the finish line. The first player and orange to cross the finish line wins. If you're into football, Play this game at your Citrus Bowl Game watching party!! For Halloween, use small pumpkins instead of oranges. For your back to school party, use Apples! What...

This is just a silly spin-off of having a photographer come in for family/group portraits of your residents, where you find someone who knows how to use photoshop effectively to swap the heads or faces of the people in the picture. We guarantee that this will get a laugh almost every time, and will be a great conversational piece for your residents to share with their friends!
This could technically be done for any group picture, but we thought it made most sense for holiday group photos you coordinate at your community.
(Also considering framing a copy and posting it in the community clubhouse! What a great way to showcase your residents and your community to prospects in a fun way.)

This event comes to us from Becky Currie on our Multifamily Insiders Fan Page: We did a "Taste of _________(insert city/town)" and partnered with local restaurants to provide FREE samples of their food. The residents loved it because they got to sample all of the great food right there at their clubhouse/pool area. They took great pride in the fact that "Their" apartment community did this event and many would bring a guest which really made a powerful impact on these potential residents! The restaurants loved it because it was relatively inexpensive marketing to a demographic that was likely to visit their establishment! Even showing photos and telling/inviting prospects about/to the event had a huge impact! It was an annual event that everyone looked forward to. We did it in the spring and hosted it poolside, it offered a great chance for new residents, who moved in...

We ran across this event a while back and thought it was a great idea! Throwing away critical documents that have account numbers is not a good idea, so having an occasional “shred” day is a good way to offer a service and in this case, raise money for a local cause. "Join us This Saturday April 14, 2012 from 10AM-1PM for our Community Shred Day! Come and witness your private documents being destroyed for $5.00 per standard size (1.2cf) file box. A percentage of all the days’ proceeds will be made on behalf of the Pine Mill Ranch Swim Team. Since this is the startup year for the Swim Team we are in desperate need of your support. Please Repost to your wall and help spread the word for this worth cause! Hope to see you there! Donations are greatly appreciated. The Pine Mill Ranch...

Offer your residents an opportunity to stretch their budget and recycle old Halloween costumes through a costume exchange party. This event is perfect for residents of all ages and will provide a unique pre-Halloween event that won’t conflict with their already scheduled Halloween parties.
