I’m a huge advocate of team-based events for apartment communities, because they establish connections between your residents for them, rather than relying upon residents to form their own connections. And a great option for a team-based event is paintball! What is great about paintball is that at the end of a match, everybody ends up with a story to tell. Even though they are all playing the same game, unlike basketball or football, there is still a solo-element to the event, which means each person has the opportunity to share their own story about how they were pinned down, how they flanked the other team, or some other heroic situation that ended up with a win or a beautiful bruise they can show off!
Try throwing in a mini contest that gives a $10 gift card for the best bruise of the day, and honors for the winning team! Of course, take pictures and video whenever possible! Maybe even put up all the pictures of the bruises up on your fan page and let your fans vote on the best bruise by liking each one! This is great content, PLUS it gives additional benefit even after the event is over!
Note: It is natural to plan events that you yourself would be interested in, and since many property managers are women, events that cater towards men can be lacking, even though paintball can really be enjoyed by anyone. So if you notice that your events tend to be enjoyed more by women at your community, consider this for an event even though you personally not might be interested!
