Patriotic Song Contest Hot

I placed this event idea in the activities and games category since I think there are a number of national holidays that this event would fit into.

We all do the same old events for things like July 4 or Memorial day. Pool parties and barbeques...so as part of those fantastic celebrations of the American Spirit, I'm suggesting a Patriotic Song Singing Contest. Pick your favorite (whether it's the National Anthem, America the Beautiful, or a popular country tune) and drag out the karaoke machine... while everyone is enjoying their summer party, have them sign up to sing! Set up a box for voting or just have a panel of judges who will vote on the best singer/song.

We think Karaoke is such a fun way to get everyone engaged and having theme specific songs just adds to the enjoyment. After your contest is over, feel free to allow a song of your choice session. What other themes can you think of that would have an adequate number of songs available?
